Karongi is a mountainous province in Western Rwanda, the coffee-growing area known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills". The cherries, of the Bourbon varietal, are grown on nutrient-rich volcanic soil near Lake Kivu, one of the African great lakes.
Misozi Kopakaki is named for two co-operatives:
The first, Kopakaki, a small co-operative of 800 farmers; and the second,
Misozi, a collection of co-operatives that help with the final stages of processing and export.
We acquired this coffee in partnership with Royal Coffee NY.
